Terms of Service
Effective date: 1 June 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the ShookSlide mobile application (“the app”). By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Who we are
The app is published by Cheymaxim Creative (Pty) Ltd. (“we”, “us”, “our”). For questions about these Terms, write to shookslide@cmxm.digital.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial entertainment.
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except where expressly permitted by law.
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices in the app.
- Modify or create derivative works of the app.
- Use the app to violate any law or to infringe anyone’s rights.
- Use automated tools, bots, scripts, or modified clients to submit scores, generate puzzles, abuse the leaderboard, or otherwise interact with the app in a way that is not a normal human gameplay session.
3. In-app purchases
Some content in the app is unlocked through a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple App Store or Google Play:
- All charges are made in the currency and at the price displayed at checkout by the relevant store.
- The store handles billing, taxes, refunds, and dispute resolution per its own terms.
- Refunds: please contact the platform you purchased on. We are generally unable to issue refunds directly; please refer to Apple’s or Google’s refund policy.
- Unlocked content remains available to the same App Store / Google Play account that purchased it, and can be restored using “Restore purchase” in the app.
4. User-generated content
If you choose a display handle to appear on the leaderboard, you agree that the handle:
- Will not contain unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, threatening, or otherwise objectionable content.
- Will not impersonate another person or entity, including app employees, in a misleading way.
- Will not infringe any third-party trademark or other right.
We use automated filters to reject obviously inappropriate handles and reserve the right to remove or change handles that violate this section without notice.
5. Leaderboard fairness
The leaderboard is designed to rank real, manually-performed solves on a shared canonical puzzle. We use multiple measures (move-sequence verification, app integrity attestation) to detect and reject fraudulent submissions. Persistent abuse may result in your anonymous identifier being banned from leaderboard submission.
6. Service availability
The app may rely on third-party services (Firebase, Apple, Google). We aim for high availability but do not guarantee that the leaderboard, in-app purchase verification, or any other server-side feature will be available at all times. Offline play (single-player puzzles) is designed to keep working even when the leaderboard service is unavailable.
7. Updates
We may release updates to the app, including bug fixes, new puzzles, and changes to existing features. We may also discontinue features or the app itself. We will not retroactively remove paid content from accounts that have purchased it as long as the relevant store account remains in good standing with Apple or Google.
8. Privacy
Our handling of your information is described in the Privacy Policy at https://shook-slide.web.app/privacy. By using the app you also consent to that policy.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all such warranties.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages (including loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption) arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for in-app purchases in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 10, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusions or limitations of certain damages, in which case the above limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by your local law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. You can also delete all your data via the “Delete my data” option in Settings.
We may suspend or terminate your access to leaderboard or multi-player features if you violate these Terms, including the fairness clause in Section 5. Single-player offline play will remain available.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the courts of South Africa, except where local law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere (for example, in your country of residence as an EU consumer).
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Effective date” at the top of this document and, where appropriate, an in-app notification. Your continued use of the app after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
