Privacy Policy
Effective date: 1 June 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the ShookSlide mobile app (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles your information when you use it.
ShookSlide is a single-player puzzle game with optional online leaderboards. We have designed the app to collect as little information as possible while still letting you compete against other players around the world.
1. Who we are
ShookSlide is published by Cheymaxim Creative (Pty) Ltd. (“we”, “us”). For privacy questions, write to shookslide@cmxm.digital.
2. The short version
- We do not ask for your name, email, password, phone number, or any other personal identifier.
- We give every install an anonymous random ID assigned by Google Firebase. We have no way to tie that ID to your real-world identity.
- If you choose a display handle to appear on the leaderboard, it is stored alongside your scores and visible to other players.
- We store what you do in the app — your solve sequences and a per-attempt summary (which level, how many swipes, whether you solved it) — to power the leaderboard and to help us improve the puzzles.
- We do not use any third-party advertising or behavioural tracking services.
- Payments are handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your card number, billing address, or receipt-level information.
- You can delete all your data at any time from inside the app.
3. Information we collect
We only collect the data needed to run the app.
a) Anonymous user identifier
When you first open the app, Firebase Authentication creates a random anonymous identifier and stores it on your device. We use it to scope your scores and attempts to you across sessions. This identifier does not contain any personal information.
b) Display handle (optional)
The first time you submit a competitive score, the app asks you to choose a display handle (2 to 16 characters). The handle is stored together with each score so it can appear on the leaderboard. You can change your handle at any time in Settings; older leaderboard rows keep the handle that was current when the score was submitted.
c) Game-play data
- Your solve sequences (the moves you made to solve a puzzle). These power leaderboard replay and let us verify that submitted scores are real solves rather than typed-in numbers.
- One session summary per puzzle attempt: which level, which mode (practice or compete), the canonical-scramble version (for competitive solves), start and end time, total swipes, undo count, whether you used the checkpoint feature, and the outcome (solved, restarted, abandoned). We use these summaries to understand which puzzles are too easy or too hard.
d) App preferences
Audio settings, scramble length, your in-progress puzzle state, and your saved best scores are stored only on your device in local storage. They are never sent to our servers.
e) Payment data
We never see payment data. When you make an in-app purchase, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google. Their privacy policies cover that part of the experience.
f) Technical data we do NOT collect
We do not collect:
- Your name, email, phone number, or postal address.
- Your IP address (beyond what is needed for Firebase to deliver a response, and which is not stored by us).
- Your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android).
- Your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, location, or any other device sensor.
- Cross-app or cross-site tracking signals.
4. How we use the information
We use the information described above only to:
- Save your progress and best scores so they appear on your next visit.
- Display the global leaderboard.
- Verify that submitted scores are real solves (anti-cheat).
- Understand which puzzles players find too easy or too hard, so we can tune the difficulty curve and decide what to build next.
- Diagnose and fix bugs.
We do not sell or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
5. Third-party services
We rely on the following services to operate the app:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore): identity and data storage. Firebase’s own privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Apple App Store / Google Play: app distribution and in-app purchases. Their privacy policies apply to any data they collect.
- RevenueCat: receipt verification and entitlement management for in-app purchases. RevenueCat assigns each install an anonymous app-user identifier and stores the purchase status against it; we do not send your handle or any other personal data to RevenueCat. Privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
6. Children
ShookSlide is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age that requires parental consent in your jurisdiction. Because we collect no real-world identifiers, the app cannot identify a user as a child. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, please contact us at the address above and we will assist with deletion.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access: ask us what data we have for your anonymous identifier.
- Erasure: delete all data we hold for your account.
- Portability: request a copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent: stop using the app at any time.
The fastest way to exercise the right to erasure is to use the “Delete my data” button in the app’s Settings panel. It wipes all of your data from our servers and from your device immediately.
For the other rights, write to shookslide@cmxm.digital.
8. Data retention
- Solve sequences and session summaries are retained until you delete them (via the in-app button) or you uninstall the app.
- When you delete your data, removal from our servers is immediate.
- Anonymous identifiers tied to deleted accounts are not re-issued.
9. Security
- All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS / TLS).
- Database access is governed by per-user security rules: each user can only read or write their own data.
- We do not store passwords (we use anonymous authentication).
- We have no ability to log in as you, since we have no credentials for you.
10. International transfers
Firebase Cloud Firestore stores data in the region we have configured (us-central1). If you access the app from outside that region, your data is transferred to and processed there.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the “Effective date” at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the app after the effective date of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of the changes.
